Imagery derived from the natural world was always at the heart of Howard’s drawing. Throughout her life she drew trees, horizons, shorelines, skies, sun and water, although she was more concerned with the essence of a subject than with its precise representation. Her figure drawings of nudes were published in 1970 by Martlet Press in Twenty-Eight Drawings by Barbara Howard .
For ease of navigation, the drawings have been grouped into separate categories. Untitled drawings are identified by their catalogue number.
